We are All Mothers

5.13.2017

From an infertility stand point, Mother's Day has always been a tricky one. Honestly, I think it gets harder each year. I guess it's because Motherhood has always felt like an "elite club" that I just can't be a part of.

Because my Mother has made one of the largest impacts in my life, I know how special the role of a Mother is. Throughout the years, I have observed countless mothers and I have seen the power of their influence.

(2010- my mom, my grandma, me and my great grandma)

"The desire to create is one of the deepest yearnings of the human soul... No matter our talents, education, backgrounds, or abilities, we each have an inherit wish to create something that didn't exist before. Everyone can create." - Dieter F. Uchtdorf

When I think about Motherhood, I think about a group of women that create hope, influence, vision and community. They create compassion and smiles, warmth, and love. As you can see, children are not a prerequisite to create these things.

I once heard a talk titled A "Mother heart". A Mother heart is any heart that is willing to see the good in others. It is a heart that will uplift and encourage. A heart that allows people to reach their potential and put the needs of others before her own. It is my opinion that any women with or without children can still experience the fulfillment that comes from a Mother heart

Although I cannot say I have experienced what it's like to hold my baby in my arms, I think I have caught a glimpse of a Mother's love and sacrifice through our Infertility journey. I think I can say I have experienced a Mother's heart. And that is why, this year, I am allowing myself to be a part of that elite club of Motherhod.

"As Aunts, Sisters, Friends, Teachers, Mothers-- as women, we are called to connect; We are called to love. And if "mother" equals love, then by the transitive property, our call to love means that we are ALL mothers" -Christina Hibbert
